Why people pick Signal Marketing for Google Ads

You searched our name and ended up here. Fair enough. Below is the honest version of why businesses pick us to manage their Google Ads over the dozens of UK PPC agencies they had to choose from. — Oliver Ball.

Reason 1. The Google Ads industry is full of theatre. We don’t do theatre.

Most Google Ads accounts I audit have the same problems. Broad match keywords with no negative lists. Performance Max campaigns cannibalising free brand search. Conversion tracking that’s been broken for months without anyone noticing. Smart Bidding strategies running with insufficient data. The agency reports show “improvements” — meanwhile the actual revenue is flat.

The reason this keeps happening is simple. Most UK Google Ads accounts are managed by junior staff at agencies, working from a checklist, billing hours that don’t translate to results. The senior strategists you met during the pitch are off chasing the next pitch. Your account becomes filler.

We built Signal so the senior operator runs your account. There’s no junior. There’s no checklist. There’s no “we’ll loop in our PPC specialist next week” — I am the PPC specialist, and so is the small team I work with. Our Google Ads management is delivered by the same people you talk to.

Reason 2. We’ve spent six figures of our own money on ads

Most paid media consultants have spent other people’s money. There’s a difference between optimising someone else’s account and optimising one where bad decisions hit your bank account at the end of the month.

NoSnore — our internal DTC brand — went from £500 starting budget to seven figures in under 12 months. We documented £0 to £250k in ad spend. Most of that ran through Meta but the same campaign architecture, conversion tracking discipline, and creative testing structure applies on Google Ads. The framework is proven on our own balance sheet first, then deployed for clients.

When we tell you to ring-fence brand from Performance Max, or to fix your conversion tracking before doing anything else, or to kill broad match in low-data accounts — those aren’t textbook recommendations. They’re scars from running our own money through the system.

Reason 3. Rolling monthly. Seven days’ notice. Your ad account stays yours.

Most Google Ads agencies want a 6 or 12-month commitment. They’ll often hold your ad account hostage too — refusing to release access, claiming “their proprietary structure” or “their tracking setup” can’t be transferred. It’s a tactic, not a fact.

We do the opposite. Rolling monthly retainers, seven days’ written notice to cancel. The Google Ads account is yours from day one and stays yours. We manage it under our Google Ads manager account, but the underlying account is registered in your name, billed to your card, and accessible to you 24/7.

If you leave, you take everything with you. Account, conversion setup, audiences, creative assets, ad copy. We don’t lock anything down. We don’t think we should have to.

Reason 4. We don’t guarantee ROAS. Anyone who does is lying.

If a Google Ads agency promises you a specific ROAS, walk. ROAS depends on margin, AOV, product-market fit, landing page conversion rate, creative quality, audience saturation, seasonality, competitor activity, and approximately ten other things outside any agency’s direct control. No honest operator can promise a number.

What we can promise is account hygiene, structural rigour, and a weekly cadence of optimisation. Conversion tracking that’s working. Negative keyword lists that grow. Brand campaigns ring-fenced. Bidding strategies that match data volume. Search term reviews. Creative rotation. Plain-English reporting that doesn’t dress up bad weeks as “phase one stabilisation”.

If a 4x ROAS is achievable for your business, we’ll get there or close to it. If 4x isn’t achievable for your category, no agency will hit it. We’ll tell you the realistic range up front, not after we’ve banked the first month’s retainer.

Reason 5. Real clients, real work, real reviews

5-star Trustpilot rating. 13+ five-star Google Business Profile reviews. Over £34M in tracked client revenue across the agency. Verifiable, public, on the record.

Live ad client work: NoSnore, Olympian Health, KitchenSmart, Nero Fabric, Built Different, AirCaddy, AJC Roofing, Riverside Hub. Different categories, different stacks, same delivery model.

“These guys are the real deal. Have helped grow our revenue massively over Q4.” — Built Different on Trustpilot. That’s the standard.

Reason 6. Pricing is straightforward and on the website

Most Google Ads agencies hide pricing behind a discovery call. We don’t. £500/month management fee plus 10% of ad spend. Client pays Google directly — we never touch your card or hold your budget.

Minimum recommended ad spend is £1,000/month for local accounts, £2,000+ for ecom. Below those numbers there isn’t enough conversion data to optimise meaningfully — Smart Bidding needs volume to work. Full pricing detail on the Google Ads service page.

Compare to typical UK competitors: most charge a percentage of spend (10-20%) with no flat fee, which incentivises higher spend rather than higher returns. Or a flat fee structure with hidden tiers. Ours is the same every month — flat plus performance, transparent.

FAQs

Why £500/month plus 10% spend rather than just one or the other?

Flat fee covers the labour cost of running the account properly regardless of spend. The 10% scales with the work — bigger accounts need more attention. The hybrid keeps incentives aligned without inflating cheap accounts.

Where are you based?

Manchester. We run accounts for clients across the UK. Location pages: Manchester, London, Birmingham, Leeds.

Do you also run Meta Ads?

Yes. Meta Ads management is a separate retainer. Most ecom clients run both — different platforms, different audiences, complementary data.

Do you handle Performance Max properly?

Yes — with brand exclusions, proper asset group structure, and signals feeding it. Not “set it and pray”, which is what most agencies do.

Can you fix a broken or suspended account?

We help with the appeal process for suspended accounts. We can’t guarantee reinstatement — Google decides. For broken accounts (bad tracking, bad structure), yes, we rebuild.

Who owns the ad account?

You. Always. We manage under our Google Ads manager. The underlying account stays yours and the billing card is yours.

Are there long-term contracts?

No. Rolling monthly with 7 days’ written notice. Same as our SEO and GBP retainers.

Can I see your reviews?

5-star Trustpilot and 13+ five-star Google Business Profile reviews. Both linked from our footer.
