Meta ads is a creative problem, not a targeting problem

iOS 14.5 killed most of the targeting playbook agencies were selling in 2020. Today, winning on Meta comes down to creative volume and creative quality. Meta’s algorithm will find your buyers if you feed it enough good ads. It cannot save bad creative with clever targeting.

We test 15-30 creatives a month for most Manchester ecom clients. Statics, UGC-style video, founder talking-head, product-demo, review compilations. Everything gets run through Meta’s Advantage+ Creative variations and measured on thumbstop rate, hook rate, CTR, and ultimately CPA.

Creative production + testing

Brief, script, and produce 15-30 new creative concepts per month depending on budget. Statics designed in Figma, video edited in-house or sourced through vetted UGC networks.

Account structure

Testing campaigns (ABO) feed winners into scaling campaigns (CBO/Advantage+). Clear separation so you can see what’s working.

Conversion tracking

Pixel, Conversions API (server-side), and UTM parity across the funnel. Dedupe running so numbers match Shopify.

Reporting

Weekly update with CPA, ROAS, top creatives, what’s being killed, what’s being scaled. No 40-slide PDFs that no-one reads.

Manchester ecom is a real scene

Manchester punches well above its weight on DTC. The Shopify cluster in the North West, the print-on-demand operators, the supplement brands out of Cheadle, the fashion brands in the Northern Quarter — it’s a proper scene. What most of them need isn’t more budget. It’s a creative system that can keep up with Meta’s burn rate.

We’ve worked with ecom brands running £5k/month up to £150k/month on Meta. The work gets more complex at higher spend but the fundamentals don’t change. Test more creative, kill losers fast, scale winners hard.

£500/month + 10% of ad spend. Creative production is included up to a baseline volume; heavy video production is quoted separately. Rolling monthly, 7 days’ notice.

FAQs

Can you handle creative production too?

Yes. We brief, storyboard, and produce statics and UGC-style video in-house or via our creator network. Big brand films we’d refer out.

Do Meta ads work for local Manchester businesses?

Usually Google Ads is better for local intent. Meta works for local when the offer is visual or the audience is specific (e.g. wedding venue, salon, gym). We’ll tell you honestly which fits.

What ROAS is realistic?

Depends on margin, AOV, product category, and creative. New ecom brands: 1.5-2.5x is typical at scale. Established brands with LTV: 2.5-4x. Anyone promising 10x is lying.

What about TikTok and Reddit ads?

We run TikTok for some clients. We focus on Meta because for most UK ecom, that’s still where the volume is. We won’t stretch into channels we can’t run well.

Who writes the ad copy?
