KitchenSmart: five years of being billed for nothing, undone in four months

A Which? endorsed German kitchen showroom in Milton Keynes, on a ten year old website, paying an agency every month for Google Ads that were not running. We rebuilt the site, took over search and started the ads again.

The brief

KitchenSmart are the only Which? endorsed kitchen company in Milton Keynes, supplying and installing German kitchens across Buckinghamshire and the towns around it. They had the showroom, the accreditations and the reviews. What they had was a website a decade old and an agency relationship that had quietly stopped working.

David had been paying that agency every month for website maintenance and Google Ads for over five years. In November 2025 the invoices kept arriving while no ads ran at all.

What we did

The site came first. Ten years old, no conversion work, content that had gone stale, and no straightforward route for a visitor to book a design visit, which is the only thing the website is really there to do. We rebuilt it around that one action.

Then the ads went back on, and search work started alongside them. We deliberately target different terms in Google Ads than we chase organically, so the two are not bidding against each other for the same clicks and we are not paying for a position search could earn on its own.

Every week David gets a breakdown of what ran and what it produced. Given what came before, that is not reporting for the sake of it.

How it went.

  1. Before us

    Five years of invoices

KitchenSmart paid a previous agency monthly for website maintenance and Google Ads. In November 2025 the billing continued while no ads ran at all.

  2. May 2026

    The rebuild

A ten year old site with no conversion work, outdated content and no straightforward way to book a design visit.

  3. Month one

    The ads back on

Cost per lead fell from £200 to £80 with no drop in lead quality.

  4. Two months in

    Search

Organic rankings up four times over, on the back of the redesign and the search work together.

The same figures as a table
Before£200
After one month£80

Lead quality was unchanged, which is the part that matters. A cheaper lead that never buys a kitchen is not a cheaper lead.

David of KitchenSmart

Signal have been a godsend. After finding out our old agency was billing us for no work, we felt like we could not trust another agency, but the team have built that trust. They send us weekly breakdowns so we are always in the loop, and they have outdone what we thought they could do.
