King Productions make commercials, documentaries and scripted drama out of Milton Keynes. They have been going since 2023 and the work is good. The website was not.
It was a GoDaddy Website Builder site. Not broken, just anonymous: the same template anyone can buy, carrying none of the craft that goes into a shoot. Reece, who runs the company, told us he was embarrassed to show it to people. For an agency whose whole business is how something looks on screen, that is not a small problem.
We scrapped it
Not a refresh of the old site. A new one, from nothing.
The brief came out of a single video call: what the company is, where Reece wanted to take it, and how he wanted to be seen. A few days later we sent a working demo rather than a moodboard, and most of the brief landed on the first pass.
Make it look like a film, not a page about films
The site had to say film agency before anyone read a word. So we built it to behave like film rather than describe it. Things move, cut and reveal as you scroll. Sections arrive the way a sequence does instead of sitting flat on the page. The showreel and the work lead, rather than waiting below the fold.
It is a custom WordPress theme, designed and coded by us, so the motion is part of the build instead of a plugin bolted on afterwards.
Where it landed
Delivered ahead of the date we gave, as a single project that closed at handover. Reece left the review below on Trustpilot a few weeks after launch.
