A small, focused team running the work directly. No account managers, no outsourced delivery, no junior-led accounts. Below is how the team is structured and what each person owns. — Oliver Ball.

Why the team is small on purpose

The standard UK agency model scales by adding headcount. Founder pitches, signs the client, hands work to junior staff. The work quality drops, the personal relationship vanishes, and the founder’s expertise stops touching the actual delivery. Most clients only realise this 6-12 months in, when the early momentum fades.

Signal scales by limiting intake. Three new partners per quarter is the upper bound. We’d rather do less work and do it well than scale headcount and dilute the work. The team stays small enough that the senior operators can run every account hands-on.

If your account would benefit from a 200-person agency with formal processes and account-manager workflows, we’re not a fit. If your account would benefit from senior operators running it directly, we are.

Oliver Ball — Founder

I founded Signal Marketing in September 2023 after building NoSnore — my own DTC brand — from £500 to seven figures in under 12 months. My full bio is here.

What I run: Strategy across all retainers. Senior delivery on Meta Ads, Google Ads, SEO. Conversion tracking architecture. Client-facing comms on every account. Founder voice on creative direction.

Background: Built NoSnore as proof-of-concept, scaled it through Meta, then translated the framework into client services. Active operator across all platforms — I’m in ad accounts and Search Console daily, not just on calls.

The operating team

A small group of operators handles delivery alongside me. Specialists across SEO, paid media, web design, and web development. Senior people, not juniors. Direct contact with clients on the relevant accounts.

We don’t have a hiring section on the website because the team isn’t built around scale. We grow when there’s a clear capability gap — not on the back of a sales push.

When you sign a retainer, you get the operators who will actually do the work introduced on day one. Not “your account manager will introduce you to the team in week 3” — straight in, direct comms, no buffer.

What we don’t have

  • No account managers. The buffer between client and delivery doesn’t exist at Signal.
  • No outsourced delivery teams. Work isn’t shipped to overseas teams to keep margins up. Operators are UK-based.
  • No junior-led accounts. If you’re paying us, senior people run your work.
  • No “C-suite” theatre. Titles are minimal. We’re operators.
  • No marketing department for our own marketing. The site you’re on, the SEO it ranks for, the social we run — all done by the same people who run client work. We eat our own cooking.

How team access works for clients

Day 1: Kickoff call with the operators running your account. Slack channel, email thread, or whichever async channel you prefer. Phone numbers shared.

Ongoing: Direct comms with the operators on the relevant service. Need an SEO question answered? Message the SEO operator. Ad-related question? Same with the paid media operator. No tickets, no triage, no “your account manager will get back to you”.

Monthly: Reporting + strategy session, in plain English. Numbers that matter, decisions that need making, what’s next.

How big is the Signal Marketing team?

Small and on purpose. We don’t share exact headcount because it changes — but small enough that the founder runs every account.

Will Oliver actually be on my account?

Yes. Strategy across all retainers, senior delivery on most. Not just calls.

Is anything outsourced?

No outsourced delivery. We use external creators for some UGC video production via vetted networks, but the strategy, briefing, and editing happen in-house.

Are all team members UK-based?

Yes.

Why no headshots / team page with photos?

Privacy. Not all team members want their photos on a public site. Doesn’t change the work.

How do I contact a specific team member?

After kickoff, you get direct contacts for the operators on your account. Before kickoff, route via team@signal.marketing.

What if Oliver is on holiday or sick?

The team has continuity coverage on every account. Work doesn’t stop when one person is away.

Are you hiring?

Not actively. If you’re a senior operator with proven results, drop a line — but we don’t run a job board.
